Privacy Policy
DayByDay has no servers of its own. There are no accounts, no ads, and no third-party SDKs. The photos and data you record are stored on your iPhone and in your own iCloud, and we can't see them.
Permissions Used
- Camera
- To take photos of your baby in DayByDay. After a vaccination or checkup, you can also take a photo of the vaccination certificate or health record book, which is stored only in that record. You're asked the first time the camera opens.
- Photos (Add Only)
- To save a copy of photos and growth films to your photo library. DayByDay can only add photos and videos to the library and can't read the ones already there. Choosing photos from the library uses the system photo picker, which doesn't need this permission, and DayByDay only receives the photos you pick.
- Notifications
- For photo, supply, and appointment reminders. These are local notifications sent by this iPhone itself and don't pass through any server. You're asked only when you turn on reminders.
Where Data Is Stored
Photos and records are stored on this iPhone. When Settings › Data › Save to iCloud is on (it's on by default), a copy is also stored in the private area of your own iCloud account and synced by Apple's iCloud, so your devices signed in to the same Apple Account can see it. This data is in your iCloud account. We can't see it, and it doesn't pass through any server of ours. Photos use your iCloud storage.
With Save to iCloud off, data is stored only on this iPhone, and what's already in iCloud isn't deleted. When you're not signed in to iCloud, data is also stored only on this iPhone.
With iCloud Backup on, or when you back up to a computer, the app's data is backed up along with the rest of your iPhone.
Export
Settings › Data › Export All Data exports a folder: daily photos, photos attached to appointments, a few spreadsheets (CSV), and a complete data manifest, manifest.json. You can save it to a computer, a cloud drive, or Files.
The photos and spreadsheets in the exported folder open directly, and the folder can be imported back into DayByDay: Settings › Data › Import Exported Folder. To switch phones, rely mainly on iCloud or a full device backup.
Delete
Settings › Delete All Data deletes photos, records, and supplies from this iPhone and clears pending reminders. When Save to iCloud is on, they're also deleted from iCloud and from other devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
Deleting the app only deletes the data on this iPhone. What's in iCloud stays and comes back if you reinstall. To delete it from iCloud, go to Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage, find DayByDay, and delete it. Earlier iCloud backups and computer backups also still have a copy. Photos already saved to your photo library and exported folders aren't deleted with it.
Purchases
The App Store handles purchasing and restoring DayByDay Plus. DayByDay never receives or stores your payment information.
